Bubbles in the water and on land

It all begins with an idea.

Faversham swimming club have returned to training !!  Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Allen Edwards and the rest of the coaches the club have been able to return to the water.

The children have greatly missed the routines and friendships over lockdown and there was much enjoyment and anticipation at the thought of returning to the pool.

Over lockdown, headcoach Paul Holt has carried out Zoom land training sessions on a weekly basis where the children have been able to maintain a certain level of fitness and see all their friends on camera.  These have been great fun and so enjoyed by the squad swimmers that they are continuing to work out in this manner once a week.  The synchronised swimming ladies have also carried out their training via Zoom, again a great way to maintain team work and working together.

Swimming is arranged around a strict timetable, with certain evenings allocated to each section and their corresponding bubbles of children.  The children are clear about how to maintain their distance and train safely.  Synchro coach Rachel Ing said “It was an absolute pleasure to welcome all of our swimmers back to synchro and so nice to see them all after an extended break.  We have received some lovely feedback about how much the girls felt safe and enjoyed their first session back.”  This sentiment was echoed by head coach of squad Paul Holt who said “It was awesome to see all the children back in the water enjoying themselves and all credit to them for following the guidance for safe training.”

A massive thank you to Faversham Swimming Pool for working with us to facilitate training.  It has been a mammoth job to ensure that all sections can train safely and alongside the requirements of the pool.  We are looking forward to continuing our training over the coming months.
